English Language Requirements for NCAB Qualifications
For learners to succeed in our qualifications, which are taught and assessed in English, it is critical that they possess an appropriate level of English language skills. The following outlines the requirements for all centers when accepting applicants onto our qualifications.
English Language Proficiency
Learners are expected to demonstrate English language comprehension at a level equivalent to IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 5.5 to study our qualifications.
All centers delivering our qualifications must ensure that non-native English-speaking learners, who have not completed their final two years of schooling in English, can demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to the following levels before being accepted into a programme that is both taught and assessed in English:
- Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): Level B2
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 51
- IELTS: Overall score of 5.5, with Reading and Writing components at 5.5
It is the responsibility of the centre to determine what evidence is necessary to prove individual learner proficiency.
