Introduction:
The Level 4 Diploma in Business and Management offers learners a short but flexible entry point to Level 4 business and management learning. A large range of optional units can either be used to broaden interest or further focus in on the topics and issues identified in the 2 core units, which address both the external culture confronting the business and the internal world of making a business work.
Level 4 Diploma in Business Management programmes are designed to provide a broad understanding of business organisations and the environment in which they operate. Candidates who achieve these qualifications may go on to study further academic and professional qualifications or embark on an administrative, managerial or commercial career.
Level 4 Diploma in Business Management has a strong managerial focus which helps successful candidates to progress to management roles. In addition, the wide range of options enables candidates to progress to specialist roles such as human resource management, marketing, and financial services.
- To enroll in this independent qualification, candidates must meet specific entry criteria. Prospective students should possess one of the following:
- The Level 3 Foundation Diploma
- A GCE Advanced Level certificate with three passing grades
- Any UK-recognized Level 3 (or above) qualification from the NQF or QCF frameworks
- SCQF Level 5 or 6 certification in Business Management
- Equivalent national qualification awards at SCQF level
- International qualifications deemed comparable to UK Level 3 standards (or higher) as assessed by UK NARIC
The program accepts various credentials that demonstrate equivalent academic standing to Level 3 qualifications in the United Kingdom education system.
This qualifications at RQF Level 4 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Certificates (HNC) and Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.
Successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Business Management provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions, including the Level 5 Diploma in Business Management. As this qualification is approved, learners are also eligible to gain direct entry into Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.
The Level 4 Diploma in Business Management consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.
Assessment and verification:
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.
